    Happy Birthday to us!

Can you believe it’s been a year since the relaunch of the shop? Yes it’s true. Twelve months ago we closed the door on our old identity, painted a few walls, moved a few things around and the following morning, Hey Presto! A new shop, a new brand and a new era.

I’ve really enjoyed the new challenges of running a completely independent store since last July and am ready for what comes next. It has been great to welcome back old friends and great too to introduce new friends to the store.

Right now we still have our 50% sale on so a good time to get a second pair or a pair of sunglasses now that we are getting some sun again but stay tuned for new things coming up in the next few months. New lines, new models from my current lines and a few changes to the store.

Have a great summer if I don’t see you before and thank you all for making this the greatest place I have ever worked!

    Sale time

Starting today, we are going on sale. Included in the sale are all Kirk Originals frames, all Funk frames and some other selected gems. Sunglasses too! We are taking an amazing 50% off everything in the sale so its a good time to get that second pair you said you promised yourself or if you are about to jet off to the sun, those sunglasses.

The sale will continue till August 31st but as always, the best stuff goes first so don’t delay!

We look forward to seeing you in the store soon

    Eyestylist comes to McClintock

Clodagh Norton has been writing about eyewear for over twelve years and her name is known to anyone who cares about what the latest news in the eyewear world is so it was very gratifying for me to be able to show her to my latest acquisition, Struktur, when she came to have a look at the store a couple of weeks ago.

Clodagh was suitably impressed and wrote a very nice piece on the website she runs with fellow optical journalist legend Joan Grady.

They have a love for good eyewear that matches my own and I am a regular visitor to their website.  To see more of their musing on spectacles, sunglasses and also a run down on the best boutiques and even guides to the hottest events in the cities they love, go to their website.

    Oh Betty!

Betty Magazine was started recently by Charlotte Jacklin and her friend Hannah Burgess in order to fill what they saw as a void in Women’s magazines, namely the things they liked to wear and do. They aim to be your new best friend and to change the way you consume your information on fashion, music, culture and lifestyle. As they say themselves, “no weight loss or diet tips here, we don’t want to play on people’s insecurities:  our philosophy is for people to embrace who they are and celebrate it.”

Sounds good doesn’t it? So you can imagine how pleased I was when Charlotte asked to contribute to a photo shoot they were doing. Together we chose a selection and when all was finished, we had made the front cover!

It’s a great shoot from a great magazine. Don’t just take my word for it, Lauren Laverne has been waxing lyrical about it too. You can read the entire magazine for free online here
